Updated Insurance Coverage Expectations for Medicaid-Contracted Assisted Living Facilities

DSHS issued a Dear Provider Letter notifying assisted living facilities with Medicaid contracts of the increased liability insurance minimum coverage limit changes.  DSHS noted that they would continue honoring the current contracts, with the change in coverage limits required upon the facility’s Medicaid contract renewal.

There are no changes in minimum liability insurance requirements for nursing homes that currently have a Medicaid contract; the change only applies to skilled nursing facilities who contracted with DSHS after February 29, 2024.
