Retention Toolkit Equips Leaders to Support Team Members Providing Care
ALTSA created a Retention Toolkit for supervisors of direct care workers. This free toolkit empowers leaders to address retention issues, reduce high turnover rates, and continue providing quality care to aging people and people with a disability in Washington State.
The toolkit includes modules on Wellness, Communication, Recognition, Onboarding, and Harassment, Abuse & Discrimination. It was designed to help leaders:
- Build solid and supportive relationships with their staff.
- Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
- Improve communication and collaboration among staff.
- Address performance issues and provide effective feedback.
- Create opportunities for professional growth and development.
- Develop and implement effective retention strategies.
The Retention Toolkit is a result from collaboration with CareLearnWA and partnerships with stakeholders, and community partners including, but not limited to, staff from Adult Family Homes, Assisted Living Facilities, Enhanced Service Facilities, Home Care Agencies, and most importantly, caregivers.
