COURSE OVERVIEW:

Healthcare Acquired/Associated Infections (HAI) – focuses on educating attendees on the causes of HAIs (i.e., non-sanitary medical equipment, non-sanitary healthcare workers, cohorting ill patients, lack of surveillance systems, environmental contamination, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), lack of systematic and current guideline implementation).

This session reinforces that HAIs are infections that arise when a patient is receiving heath care services, and these acquired infections are preventable. Speaker will discuss the seven most effective ways to prevent HAIs and help attendees understand that HAI prevention begins with effective implementation, oversight, and organizational awareness of the seven elements of hand hygiene, environmental hygiene, screening and cohorting patients, surveillance, antibiotic stewardship, following guidelines and safety culture.

Kris Mastrangelo, OTR/L, LNHA, MBA is the owner, founder, President and CEO of Harmony Healthcare International, Inc. (HHI), an internationally recognized, premier healthcare consulting firm. She started the company in 2001 and applies a systematic approach to addressing the C.A.R.E.S. platform (trademarked and the intellectual property of HHI), which emcompasses all aspects of compliance, auditing, analysis, reimbursement, regulatory, education, efficiency, and survey services. Kris is a national keynote speaker with more than 32 years of experience in the Health Care industry. She specializes in the long term post-acute care setting.  An Occupational Therapist degree from Tufts University followed by a Master’s in Business Administration from Salem State University, coupled with a Nursing Home Administrator’s License, afford Kris an in-depth perspective into the clinical, financial, regulatory, and operational components critical for business success.
