The 2022 legislative session will be critical for skilled nursing and assisted living providers who serve Washington’s Medicaid population. The COVID-19 pandemic and a hyper-competitive labor market are driving the cost of long term care services, and it will be necessary for the Legislature to understand the impact of chronic Medicaid underfunding and the COVID pandemic on your important work to provide quality care and services. Washington State has the revenue to move beyond triaging funding problems, and we will be asking budget writers to take bold steps to address funding in the supplemental plan.
The 2022 legislative session is a short session – thus it is imperative that we work now to educate and inform the policymakers who will be tasked with developing and passing a state supplemental budget that will impact provider Medicaid rates from July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023. All politics are local, and it is critical for your elected officials to hear from you. The team at WHCA is committed to helping you successfully advocate.
